Why do you want to become a Christian?

Don't become a Christian to get out of Hell. Jesus is not your escape route. He's not a ticket. He's not there so you don't burn. Christ is God. You need to beleive that He is wonderful and beautiful. Become a Christian because Christ is lovely not because Hell is horrible...

amen,

I believe that God uses both positive and negative rewards to motivate the human heart towards Him.
The spirit convicts of both righteousness and judgement. But the human heart is centrally captivated by the beauty of God rather than His judgments.

I guess we need a reality check on what eternity with Him actually looks like too.

Yeah I agree with you. I think is meant to show us the beauty of God-his beautiful holliness. Therefore if we are motivated to get out of Hell for the right reasons we will have to be motivated to come to Christ for who He is.

I blogged on this topic after someone asked me if I would still be a Christian if hell didn't exist. The person was assuming that I came to God because I'm afraid of burning not because of who he is.

Thanks for the comments!
